Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems consist of an array of solar panels that convert light energy from the sun (daylight & sunlight including ultraviolet radiation) directly into electricity.
The panels, feature two semi-conductors laid in layers, one positively charged and one negatively charged. When light falls on them an electric field between the two starts to flow producing direct current (DC). This DC Current is converted to alternating current (AC) by an inverter and up-rated to 240v for use in your property.
PV systems are usually best sited on rooftops where they generate zero-carbon electricity ‘Free of charge’ with little or no maintenance for up to 40+ years. They can also be mounted on flat roofs and walls.
PV systems will not only reduce your electricity bill, but with the Government’s Feed-in-Tariffs (FIT) you will also benefit from a guaranteed tax-free, index-linked income for the next 25 years!
Coupled with your ability to sell any excess electricity back to the National Grid, PV systems represent a very sound investment on all levels delivering a 7-10% return!
