Rupert Baker (46)

Systems Designer

As an accredited engineer Rupert is passionate about reducing CO2 emissions and has spent the last seven years delivering energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions for urban homes and businesses. He designed the methodology that was successfully used to rate and offer individually tailored solutions to Al Gore’s London staff. He has also successfully designed waste to energy systems for blocks of flats and community projects as well as winning contracts with University College London to quantify and advise on carbon reduction strategies. In his previous company he was responsible for over 200 installations and is most proud of being voted London’s Best Energy Efficiency Installer, two years running. Rupert is married with four children. It’s a wonder he finds the energy to cycle everywhere!

Guy Hewitt (49)

Founder & Managing Director

Driven by the desire to deliver affordable renewable technology to homes and businesses alike, Guy qualified as an Energy Surveyor and set up Treadlighter in 2007. With 23 years experience in business development and management he started in Home Security in the early 1980’s as an Area Surveyor for Banham Security before helping to establish Architectural Lighting Design Specialists, Lightplan. His subsequent work in the Advertising & Entertainment Media industry included a WPP Group subsidiary where he was responsible for expanding their business throughout the UK and EMEA. Married with two teenage children he’s also a keen golfer, skier and enjoys mountain biking. With interests like that no wonder he’s so keen on energy efficiency!

Peter Cross (52)

Technical Director

As an engineering graduate, Peter has an abiding interest in all forms of technology. Commencing with software development at Price Waterhouse, he applied his skills in the financial sector for 22 years before becoming Head of IT at Arvato Loyalty. His first novel, ‘The Warning’, a thriller based around climate change and the fact that it might easily be worse than we have imagined, compelled him to ‘do something useful’ rather than watch from the sidelines.  Away from work, Peter is married with two teenage children. Since rowing for Cambridge in the 1979 Boat Race, he keeps himself supremely fit as a Water Polo player, Triathlete and Mountain biker. He’s the only person we know who can eat as many chocolate biscuits as he likes!
