Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, Belsize Park

Project Outline

Founded in 1906 the RCSSD is a constituent of the University of London offering specialist undergraduate and postgraduate education in speech and drama for young actors and students.

The phase 5 extension building provided a number of high quality rehearsal and performance studios wit much needed office accommodation and ancillary spaces.

As a part of achieving a BREEAM Score of at least ‘Very good’ and to ensure compliance with both Part L of the Building Regulations and the London Plan a Solar PV system was required to reduce annual grid-electricity consumption and save carbon.

Our 24.90 kWp Solar PV system generates 20,800 kWh of electricity per annum and with virtually all the solar electricity generated used in the building, the school benefits by reducing its grid electricity consumption and helps the environment by saving 10.80 tons of CO2 per annum.
